My Help?
2010-10-13 18:03
Though I believed that I was crucified with Christ Jesus and died there at that time in the love of God, if I want help for me, it is clear that I am still alive.
It is because these words are just staying on my lips, "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20).
"I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." If these words had been realized in me, my help would not be for me, but for Christ Jesus the Son of God who gave himself for me and now lives in me.
Therefore, our teacher, who had been sent as the apostle to the Gentiles, said, "I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:20-21).
Anyone who wants help for the flesh is still in the flesh, but for the Spirit in the Spirit. Therefore, the Bible said, "Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace." (Romans 8:5-6).
Without making the death sure by the fact that Jesus' side was pierced with a spear and a sudden flow of blood and water was shed, if anyone half-dead says that his body of sin was crucified with the man Jesus and died and was raised with the Son of God, he still surely has the life of man in him and the fight between the flesh and the Spirit has not been ended.
Therefore, the Bible says, "For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want." (Galatians 5:17).
However, the Bible says about those who by following the word of faith have grown from the infant faith which is in the flesh to the mature faith which offers whole burnt offerings on the Lord's altar, "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory." (Colossians 3:1-4).
All these wonderful works are accomplished through precious faith only in those who are in Christ Jesus. It is the gift of God. The Bible calls it salvation. It is written, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God." (Ephesians 2:8).
Therefore, those who have received the gift of help of God, that is, Christ, boast only about Christ, and only in Christ. It is wrtten, "It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: 'Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.'" (1 Corinthians 1:30-31).
Therefore, the Bible said, "A song of ascents. I lift up my eyes to the hills--where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip--he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep." (Psalms 121:1-4).
Therefore, the children of God who receive only God's help in Christ Jesus do not wait for man's help. It is written, "Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?" (Isaiah 2:22).
Therefore now God does not help me, but He helps Christ who lives in me. And so, only to the Lord be glory! Amen. Thank you, Lord.
